What is an Emergency?



If your pet has any of these symptoms, bring it in IMMEDIATELY!

Symptom:

With:

Inability to Breathe

Gasping for air, Noisy or gurgley respiration, blue tongue

Inability to Urinate

Continually trying to urinate, crying or whining when trying

Severe Pain

Continuous pain with no relief and pet continues crying or whining

Cluster Seizures

Multiple severe seizures

Poisoning

Bring the container or commercial name and chemical name

Labor with no puppies/kittens delivered

Keeps trying to deliver babies with no results or has stopped trying

Continuous Vomiting or Diarrhea

Continuous or with the blood

Hit By Car

With any severity, signs, wounds

Non-Stop Bleeding

Any part of the body

Bloat

Of any level of severity

Open Puncture Wounds

Especially any puncture wounds to the chest or abdomen

Injury

Especially any making pet continually cry or total lameness or bleeding

Burns

From heat or chemical of any degree

Loss of Balance or Consciousness

Includes fainting, staggering, tremors, blindness, confusion

Any other sign that looks serious!!!!



If your pet has any of these symptoms, bring it in TODAY!!!

Symptom:

With:

Vomiting or Diarrhea

Not continuous, no pain, no blood, pet is perky and attentive

Severe Itching

Baldness, Redness, Self-Mutilation

Bad Odor

Odor from any part of the body

Abnormal Breathing

With or without cough, otherwise eats and drinks and acting ok

Limping

Moderate lameness without crying/whining

Swallowed Object

Even if your unsure of pet ate it

Injuries

Non-threatening but should be treated to prevent worse damage, i.e. lacerations with minimal or no blood, broken toe nails, etc

Seizure

First seizure pet has had, lasted briefly and pet recovered quickly


If your pet has any of these symptoms, it is safe to wait overnight!!

Symptom:

With:

Lameness

Little or no pain, not continuous

Increase in Thirst or Urination

As long as pet is acting fine otherwise with no visual blood in urine or straining or discomfort.

Vomiting/Diarrhea

No pain, blood, not continuous

Itching

Mild to moderate itching with no bleeding or open sores

Loss of Appetite

Pet didn't eat full meal but otherwise seems fine

Ear infections

As long as no blood or extreme discomfort
